Demetrious Johnson Still Gives Jon Jones His Nod Of Respect

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been receiving some heat from the mixed martial arts community as of late. After being suspended for a failed drug test, “Bones” Jones made his octagon return at UFC 214 earlier this year. Jones went toe-to-toe with heated rival Daniel Cormier in the night’s pay-per-view main event, earning a title winning knockout victory in the process. Still, Jones’ octagon victory was short lived.

It was later revealed that Jon Jones failed his drug test for UFC 214, turning the fight into a no contest and crowning Cormier as the champion once again.

UFC flyweight Demetrious Johnson recently revealed that he still considers Jon Jones as one of the best in MMA today. Coming from the fighter that just broke Anderson Silva’s coveted record for most consecutive title defenses, that has to mean something.

Prior to his record breaking title defense over Ray Borg at UFC 216, Johnson took a moment with UFC on FOX to consider the greatest fighters in MMA today. Here is what Johnson had to say:

“I’ve worked out in the same room as Jon Jones. I’ve seen his footwork. I’ve seen his combinations. I’ve seen him transition in striking from throwing elbows to throwing high kicks to double leg. I’ve seen him do it all.”

Who commands the most respect from "Mighty Mouse" Johnson? These two names might surprise you!
