Following Fili Loss, Artem Lobov Eyes Boxing Match Against Paulie Malignaggi

UFC Fight Night 118 is now in the books. The exciting day of fights went down today, Oct. 21, inside the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. In the night’s main event, Darren Till put on an impressive TKO victory performance over welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. In another exciting fight from the day’s event, SBG Ireland’s Artem Lobov went toe-to-toe with Andre Fili.

Fili out on a dominant performance over his opponent, earning a unanimous decision victory over Lobov. Now on a two fight losing streak, Lobov’s professional mixed martial arts record has shifted to 13-14. Following the fight, “The Russian Hammer” hinted to potentially considering retirement. That being said, it would now appear that Lobov is interested in entering the squared circle rather than the octagon.

In an interview following his tough loss to Fili, Andre Lobov explained that he would not mind trying his hand in a few boxing matches next. When asked about Pauli Malignaggi, “The Russian Hammer” explained that he “would be all for it.”

Former boxing champion Pauli Malignaggi and Conor McGregor, teammate to Lobov, are not on great terms. Malignaggi joined McGregor’s training camp when the UFC champion was preparing for his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. After a series of sparring images were leaked, Malignaggi departed from the training camp and has been eyeing a boxing match against McGregor ever since.
