UFC superstar Conor McGregor has taken over the world of mixed martial arts. Not satisfied with the fact, the lightweight champion tried to take over the world of boxing earlier this summer. Even though McGregor lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his boxing debut, the UFC fighter still took home the payday of his career. All in all, it would appear that “Notorious” may have even more sway in the combat sports world than some may have realized.
Besides the fact that Conor McGregor has drawn record numbers to his octagon performances, “Notoious” has simply become a staple name in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Forbes recently came forward with an article on the matter. In the Forbes article, author Brian Mazique explains that, despite McGregor’s lack of official standing of power within the UFC, the fighter is calling all of the shots.
“McGregor isn’t part owner–yet–or even the president of the organization, but he is perhaps the UFC’s most influential figure and he’s clearly the biggest star on the roster. There are other fighters who are more accomplished and better overall, but no one puts butts in seats and in front of monitors and televisions like McGregor.”
It is still unclear when McGregor will make a return to the UFC, as the fighter is fresh off a $100 million payday from his match against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
