Longtime UFC color commentating veteran Joe Rogan often takes the time to voice his opinions on the world of mixed martial arts on his podcast. This time, Rogan has revealed that he thinks mixed martial arts may not be benefiting from using gloves.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), gloves are a necessity. The act of bare-knuckle boxing is not unheard of, but has taken a backseat to the more popular practice of using padding in combat sports. On his podcast the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan explained that he believes fighters are taking more damage because of the use of padding.
“My point is that if fights had no pads, we would get a more accurate representation of what the body can really do. Instead, we are making fighters get more damaged, because you are letting people tee off. I don’t think you should be able to tape your wrists either. That’s unfair too.”
