Well ladies and gentleman, we have a main event title fight. But, earlier today it was unclear if this would be the case. . .
That’s because during the UFC’s new early morning weigh-ins routine, main event fighter Kevin Lee waited until the last minute to hit the scales heavy.
As a result, Nevada doctors cleared him to keep cutting for up to an additional hour. Lee came in at the end of his time extension under the championship weight by one-half pound, making tomorrow’s main event official for the UFC interim lightweight title.
Everyone was on pins and needles ever since Lee revealed he was 174 pounds just 20-hours out from this morning’s weigh-ins. He remained confident as ever though, all the way up until he missed weight.
It was an intense morning for all involved and everyone watching at home.
Lee, took to his verified twitter account to release a statement on this morning’s drama.
Here’s what he said:
“Told y’all I ain’t no bitch. #scaredyadidntI”
“I’m willing to die bout this shit. I got a title to win tomorrow. Nobody gonna stop me. #25toLife”
