Once again rising MMA stand-out Mackenzie Dern proves that the hype is valid and deserved.
Dern has been working hard on evolving into a well rounded mixed martial artist but still loves to rely heavily on her Brazilian jiu-jistu.
“The big thing right now is my standup,” Dern said in an interview with FloCombat. “I’m still a little bit active in jiu-jitsu right now even though they are pushing me to go 100 percent just MMA. It’s so hard for me to leave the jiu-jitsu game and I’m not quite ready to do that. My jiu-jitsu timing is still very good, we are really just working the standup.”
Tonight, as part of the LFA 24 even on AXS TV, Dern notched another win, keeping her unbeaten record in tact with a first round submission win over Mandy Polk.
Tonight also marked Dern’s debut as a flyweight. Something to take not of as the UFC has just launched their own flyweight female division.
