UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson made history last weekend. Competing in the pay-per-view co-main event for UFC 216 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., “Mighty Mouse” was set to break Anderson Silva’s record for most consecutive title defenses in the UFC.
With a dazzling aerial armbar submission over Ray Borg, Johnson made his record breaking 11th consecutive title defense right there inside the T-Mobile Arena. Johnson’s spectacularly dominant performance over Ray Borg an his record breaking win have since been a hot topic of discussion for many fight fans. With the finish still fresh on everyone’s minds, corner cam footage from the momentous occasion has now been released.
In the video above, legendary MMA trainer Matt Hume can be heard congratulating his pupil on his historic achievement. Asking Johnson how many times they had practiced his impressive aerial finish in the gym, Johnson responded “Thousands of times.”
