It was recently revealed that negotiations are currently underway for former boxing champion Pauli Malignaggi and UFC superstar Conor McGregor to throw down. That being said, it would appear that the next fight performance for “Notorious” is going down inside the octagon after all.
Malignaggi and McGregor have formed some bad blood. The former boxing champion departed from McGregor’s training camp after a series of sparring photos were leaked to the public. As a result, the UFC lightweight champion was short another sparring partner ahead of his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Ever since the split, Malignaggi has been vocal about his interest in facing off against “Notorious.” With McGregor now coming off of his TKO loss to Mayweather back in August, all eyes are on “Notorious” for what fight will come next.
Yahoo Sports has reported that they have been informed by multiple sources that Conor McGregor’s next fight will be inside the octagon. With Tony Ferguson fresh off an interim lightweight title earning victory over Kevin Lee, it would seem likely that the reigning champion will be returning to unify his title.
UFC President Dana White recently offered his thoughts on the matter, explaining that Conor McGregor’s next fight should be against the UFC interim lightweight champion.
