UFC light heavyweight veteran Antonio Rogério Nogueira was flagged for a random drug test in September. Since then, the mixed martial arts veteran has been vocal to his fans concerning the test. Now Nogueira has come forward to reveal that he will now be taking legal action to prove his innocence.
In an interview with Flo Combat, Nogueira said:
“I’ll try to defend myself. A diuretic substance has been identified in my test and I don’t use diuretics. I do a strict diet in advance [of my fights] to not have major problems with weight loss. I’m going to find a specialist lawyer to figure out what we’re going to do.”
The fighter was set to take on Jared Cannonie at UFC on FOX 26, but Nogueira has since been pulled from the fight due to the flagged drug test.
Speaking on the matter, Nogueira added:
“I believe in my innocence and I don’t want to think of the worst. I’m sad to have the [next] fight canceled now. This situation is very difficult. Let’s wait for what is decided from now on.”
