Report: Boxing Outsells The Entire UFC Roster In 2017, With Just One Fighter

It would appear that the world of boxing has overwhelmed the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion in 2017 pay-per-view purchases with just one pugilist.

Multi-time world champion boxer Canelo Alvarez has earned a staggering number of pay-per-view purchases in 2017. The boxing phenom put on a dominant display over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. earlier this year. Most recently, Alvarez faced off in a highly anticipated bout against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Of course, the fight ended in a highly controversial draw.

While most pay-per-view buy rates are not disclosed to the public, industry insiders have come forward with information on this year’s PPV sales. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has accrued a total 2.41 million PPV buys with nine total events in 2017. Canelo Alvarez, however, has accrued a total 2.5 million purchases with just his two fights, being against Chavez Jr. and “GGG.”
