UFC 216 went down on Saturday night inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. In the night’s co-main event, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson took on tough contender Ray Borg. However, it was more than just another title defense on the line for “Mighty Mouse” This time, it was UFC history in the making.
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has held the coveted UFC record of most consecutive title defenses for some time now, making “The Spider” one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history. Last night, Demetrious Johnson took Anderson Silva’s record of 10 consecutive title defenses and raised it to 11.
With a dazzling armbar submission, “Mighty Mouse” put an exclamation point on the story of his UFC legacy by earning his record breaking 11th consecutive title defense with a finish over Ray Borg.
Now WWE superstar and Fast and Furious actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken to Twitter to give the champion his respect.
