Rowdy Soccer Fans Keep Two Fighters From Attending Today’s UFC Weigh-Ins

It would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had an incident at today’s UFC Fight Night 118 ceremonial weigh-ins in Poland.

UFC heavyweights Adam Wieczorek and Anthony Hamilton were not present at today’s ceremonial weigh-ins, but the fighters are still set to compete in tomorrow night’s event. As reported by MMA Junkie, the UFC refrained from allowing either fighter to participate in the ceremonial weigh-ins after security concerns were raised.

Dozens of Lechia Gdansk “ultras,” superfans of the local soccer team, appeared at the arena just before the ceremony. Wieczorek, however, is a supporter of rival team Ruch Chorzow. After unleashing a series of synchronized chants, the fans’ section was barricade by venue staffers. Riot gear equipped police officers appeared outside of the venue, demanding identification from those leaving the arena.

All of that in mind, Adam Wieczorek and Anthony Hamilton are still set to face off at tomorrow night’s event. UFC Fight Night 118 goes down Oct. 21 inside the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland and will be live streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
