Nevada Doctors Grant Lee A Second Chance To Make Weight, UFC 216 Main Event Now Official After Second Attempt

Top ranked UFC lightweight Kevin Lee struggled to make weight for his interim lightweight title fight at UFC 216.

Saturday’s UFC 216 headliner Kevin Lee shocked the world this morning when he missed weight for his UFC interim title fight against Tony Ferguson.

In the early morning weigh-ins, Lee was the last fighter on the scales and he weighed in at 156 pounds.

Only one pound over, fighters booked for championship fights are not given the extra pound allowance like in other bouts.

Instead, Nevada doctors allowed Kevin one additional hour to try and shed the one pound.

Lee used up that entire hour and when he hit the scales for a second time he weighed in at 154.5 pounds. This means his fight against Tony Ferguson is now official.

UFC 216: Ferguson vs. Lee goes down tomorrow night from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.
