It’s Settled! Demetrious Johnson’s New Viral Finishing Move Dubbed “The Mouse Trap”

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made its way to Las Vegas, Nev. last weekend for the highly anticipated mixed martial arts event UFC 216. Fight fans were gifted with a night of amazing performances, exciting title fights and even a record breaking victory. Now fans have decided to give a name to Johnson’s record earning finish in last night’s co-main event.

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson had a heavy load on his shoulders as he walked into the octagon for UFC 216’s co-main event. Tied with Anderson Silva’s coveted UFC record for most consecutive title defenses, “Mighty Mouse” was looking to make UFC history. His opponent for the night was the always tough Ray Borg, a fighter who was riding a two fight winning streak over Jussier da Silva and Louis Smolka.

Borg attempted to pressure Johnson early in the fight, but simply came up short. “Mighty Mouse” had an answer for everything his opponent sent his way. Putting on a dominant performance inside the octagon, Demetrious Johnson made UFC history with his 11th consecutive title defense as a UFC flyweight champion. However, many fight fans are talking about how precisely “Mighty Mouse” managed to finish his opponent, over Johnson’s newly acquired record.

Suplexing Ray Borg into the air, Johnson transitioned into an armbar submission before his opponent could hit the ground. The stunning exclamation point on Johnson’s historic record breaker is now being called “The Mouse Trap.” UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently took to Twitter to confirm that he believes the fan made name is pretty great.
