UFC President Dana White attempted to have country artist Jason Aldean perform the national anthem at last night’s UFC 216, in honor of the Las Vegas tragedy first responders and victims from the shooting that were present for the fight. However, Dana White explained that Jason Aldean declined the offer to perform at the Las Vegas fight event. Now it would appear that the 91 Harvest Music Festival headliner had decided to play in New York instead.
Last weekend, Las Vegas suffered a terrible tragedy. With 59 confirmed dead and 515 injured, a mass shooting took place at the 91 Harvest Music Festival just across the street from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. With hundreds of first responders to the tragedy present at last night’s UFC 216, as well as some of the victims from the shooting, UFC President Dana White reached out to Jason Aldean to have the country artist perform the National Anthem.
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Dana White explained that Aldean declined the offer because the singer was “shook up” from the tragedy and may never perform live again. However, it would appear that the country artist was not too “shook up” to appear on Saturday Night Live in New York on Saturday, during the UFC 216 event going on in Las Vegas.
Jason Aldean can be seen performing on the SNL stage in the video below:
