The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is making preparations for December’s opening card UFC 218. However, it would appear that the mixed martial arts promotion is now short one of the night’s most exciting fights.
UFC 218 is set to see UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway attempt to defend his title from former champion Frankie Edgar. In another exciting fight on the night’s card, UFC lightweights Al Iaquinta and Paul Felder were set to throw down for division dominance. However, the highly anticipated lightweight battle is no longer on the table.
As reported by MMA Fighting, Al Iaquinta has suffered an injury. As a result, the fighter’s match up against Paul Felder has since been pulled from UFC 218. Charles Oliveira is currently in the running as a replacement opponent for Iaquinta, but an official announcement has yet to be made.
UFC 218 goes down Dec. 2 inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan and will be available on pay-per-view.
