The UFC Releases A Heartfelt Statement, Offers Condolences To Las Vegas

Sunday night’s Las Vegas, Nevada shooting has been a difficult tragedy for all. At the time of this report, 58 people are confirmed dead and 515 have been injured. Now, with a heavy heart, the UFC has provided a statement on the tragedy.

The Route 91 Harvest Music Festival was going down near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Sunday night, when a gunman began shooting into the 22,000 person crowd from the 32nd floor of the resort.

This Saturday night, Oct. 7, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be hosting UFC 216 in Las Vegas, Nev. The mixed martial arts promotion has yet to reveal any change in plans for the event’s date or location. However, the UFC has provided a statement concerning the recent tragedy. As seen on UFC.com, the promotion stated:

“Our hearts are home in Las Vegas. We are saddened by this senseless act of violence and offer heartfelt condolences to all those affected.”

UFC 216 is set to see UFC lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee face off for the UFC lightweight interim title. Ferguson was initially set to fight for the interim belt against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 209. However, Nurmagomedov suffered weight managed issues and was rushed to the hospital, forcing “The Eagle” out of the night’s co-main event.
