Georges St-Pierre has historically put on one of the most dominant runs in the UFC welterweight division. Retiring with the title in 2013 on a 12 fight winning streak, “Rush” has been away from the octagon for nearly four years. Now St-Pierre is making a return to the UFC at a new weight class, set to take on Michael Bisping for the middleweight title. In promotion for the event, the two top competitors met face to face yesterday for the UFC 217 pre-fight press conference.
Georges St. Pierre and Michael “The Count” Bisping are set to face off in the pay-per-view main event of UFC 217. The fight will go down Nov. 4 inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York.
In anticipation for the highly anticipated return of GSP and the second title defense of Michael Bisping, the UFC 216 pre-fight press conference went down just last night.
During the conference, Georges St. Pierre responded to a question concerning Michael Bisping. Stating the “The Count” has earned a spot as one of the promotion’s historically greatest fighters, St-Pierre explained that things are not going to go well for the UFC middleweight champion come Nov. 4.
“But he’s got a loss Nov. 4. This I can guarantee you. He’s not gonna beat me. There’s nothing more sure. Water is wet, fire burns and I’m gonna beat Michael Bisping.”
Michael Bisping was quick to ask Georges St-Pierre precisely how he plans to beat him. “Rush” offered a heated response.
“I’m gonna do whatever I want to do,” St-Pierre said. “I’m gonna strike you, I’m gonna put you down, I’m gonna submit you, I’m gonna restrike you if you stand back up, I’m gonna do whatever I want — whatever I want when I want to do it. That’s what I’m gonna do.”
