Next month’s UFC 218 featherweight title main event has reportedly taken a hit, and the report looks legit.
According to the reliable Combate.com website, Frankie Edgar has sustained an injury, forcing him out of the UFC featherweight title fight against champion Max Holloway.

The featherweight Frankie Edgar will see yet another belt bout escape from his hands. The American fighter suffered a facial injury during training for his fight against Max Holloway, the current category champion at UFC 218, on December 2 in Detroit. Edgar will need surgery and, therefore, will be forced to withdraw from the confrontation with the Hawaiian, according to learned Combate.com from sources linked to the Ultimate.
UFC 218 is a stacked event, set to go down on December 2 in Detroit. At this time there is no word on a potential replacement.
