Though the talk of a Tyron Woodley vs. Nate Diaz UFC 219 title fight has died down this week, it wasn’t long ago that the world was running rampant with speculation and rumors.
Most of these rumor spells surrounding the fight came from UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley himself, as the champ campaigned for Nate Diaz to accept the UFC’s offer throughout his many means of communicating with the world.
UFC mega-star Nate Diaz remained silent on the subject and never breathed a word about an offer to fight for the UFC welterweight title, and maybe that’s because the UFC never actually offered Nate Diaz the fight.
Despite the weeks of speculation, UFC president Dana White confirmed that all the rumors about the matchup were not true.
The UFC boss addressed the media today, ahead of this weekend’s UFC 218, and confirmed with the press that, “there was never an official offer” for that fight.
Now you know! And if you’re mad about it, blame Tyron for the fake news releases put out himself on TMZ, his new part-time employer.
