With McGregor Out, Dustin Poirier Calls Out Tony Ferguson For UFC Title Fight

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been looking to lock down the next opponent for UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. However, the fighter has yet to land a fighter to meet inside the octagon. Now it would appear that another lightweight contender has come forward to offer themselves for the interim champion.

The mixed martial arts promotion was initially looking to pin UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor against “El Cucuy” at UFC 219 for Dec. 30, 2017. However, SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh has since revealed that “Notorious” is not likely to return to the octagon until later next year.

Ferguson recently took to Twitter to vent about “Notorious” with the statement:

“@TheNotoriousMMA Wannabe K.O.T.Jungle Looks Like A P**sy To Me Keep Hiding Behind The Brass Like A Gimp, B**ch. Papi Is Coming For U EC”

Responding to the message, Dustin Poirier said:

“I’m ready and willing!”

Poirier put on a bloody war with former champion Anthony Pettis at UFC Fight Night 120, earning a submission victory in the third round. Poirier’s only blemish since moving up to the lightweight division has been a loss to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 94 in September of 2016.
