While Dustin Poirier is riding a stunning victory over former champion Anthony Pettis from UFC Fight Night 120, the fighter is still on the hunt for a rematch with Eddie Alvarez.
Poirier faced off against Alvarez at UFC 211, but the fight was turned to a no contest following illegal knees to the head of Poirier when the fighter was down. Now Alvarez is set to coach on the new season of The Ultimate Fighter and has a fight lined up with Justin Gaethje. Poirier is not too happy about that.
Speaking in the UFC Fight Night 120 post-fight press conference, Poirier said:
“I hope Eddie wins and we can build this up into what it should be — a rematch I should have got before this fight even happened tonight. It should have been an automatic rematch. He shouldn’t have been rewarded with a TV show and more publicity and another big fight against another high ranked guy.
“He cheated and got out of a fight that he was losing and he should have been forced to run it back with me. I’m the guy who got robbed in that fight. He got rewarded.”
