The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is heading to Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 2 for UFC 218. The mixed martial arts event is set to see Max Holloway make his first title defense, after unifying the featherweight belt with a stunning TKO finish over Jose Aldo. However, there has been an unfortunate setback concerning the night’s main event match up.
Max Holloway was initially set to take on former UFC champion Frankie Edgar for the event. However, it was recently reported that Edgar has been pulled from UFC 218 due to an injury.
Now the former champion has come forward with a statement concerning the recent news. Here is what Frankie Edgar had to say over Instagram:
“Hit with a minor setback but should be back to full contact in six weeks or so. Thanks to the @ufc for always having my back. Max I’ll see you down the road. #Believe”
