Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks suffered a brutal loss at UFC 217 on Saturday, Nov. 4. Facing off against Paulo Costa, Hendricks suffered a rough TKO defeat in the second round. The loss put the fighter at 1-5 for his last six octagon performances. On top of that, it would appear that the competitor’s contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has come to an end.
As reported by Bloody Elbow, Hendricks’ final fight on the competitor’s contract with the UFC came to an end at UFC 217. The fighter is now a free agent.
Having only amassed three victories in the last three years, it would appear understandable that the former champion may not be returning to the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion. Of course, only time will tell.
The former welterweight champion has been plagued by weight cutting issues for many of his fights which was why he’d been competing as a middleweight during his past few fights. Johny Hendricks professional mixed martial arts record is 18-8, with victories over the likes of Carlos Condit and Robbie Lawler.
