The price of fighting , Living with Depression & Brain Injury

Gary Goodridge‏ is a former super heavyweight kickboxer and a former heavyweight mixed martial artist. Goodridge has seven K-1 competitions to his record, as well as a multitude of match ups under the Pride FC banner and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). However, Goodridge does not fight any longer. Having not competed since 2010, with his career spanning back to 1996, Goodridge has been diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The former fighter’s condition was caused by receiving repeated blows to the head throughout his career.

The combat sports veteran finished his near fifteen year career having fought 38 kickboxing fights (12-24-2) and 47 mixed martial arts fights (23-23-1). He’s also shared the ring with such legends as Fedor Emelianenko, Alistair Overeem, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Mark Coleman.
