Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has been away from the octagon for nearly four years now. On a staggering 12 fight winning streak, “Rush” made a successful defense of his title against Johny Hendricks back in 2013. However, St-Pierre then called an end to his mixed martial arts career.
Much has changed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since the Canadian superstar’s last octagon performance. The mixed martial arts promotion has gone through a multi-billion dollar sale, as it is now owned by William Morris Endeavor. Georges St-Pierre is getting used to the new layout of the UFC, as he prepares for his big octagon return that goes down later tonight.
Check out St-Pierre’s thoughts on everything that has led up to his huge UFC return in the video below. For him, “it’s completely insane.”
Georges St-Pierre is set to make his big octagon return tonight, Nov. 4, in the main event of UFC 217. The event will be available live on pay-per-view and will take place inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York.
For the fight, St-Pierre will be moving up in weight to take on UFC middleweight champion Michael “The Count” Bisping.
