Well, it would appear that Quinton Jackson was just as in the dark on Bellator’s new heavyweight tournament as the fight fans.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson recently closed the door on a possible octagon return to signing another multi-fight contract with competing promotion Bellator MMA. Now the fighter is set to compete in the mixed martial arts promotion’s recently revealed heavyweight tournament grand prix. The event is set to begin sometime next year and will feature Fedor Emelianenko, Frank Mir, Matt Mitrione, Roy Nelson, Ryan Bader, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Muhammad Lawal and Chael Sonnen.
Appearing on The MMA Hour, Jackson revealed that he was taken by surprise that he was involved in the tournament.
“I didn’t even know about the damn tournament, to be honest, until I re-signed my agreement. Yeah, then I see all over the damn social media, it’s a damn tournament. I’m like, aw f**k, here we go with this sh*t, but ya know I don’t care, I’m a fighter.”
