Georges St-Pierre finally made his big octagon debut, after nearly four years away from the sport of mixed martial arts, at UFC 217. The former welterweight champion moved up in weight to challenge UFC middleweight title holder Michael “The Count” Bisping for his belt. The mixed martial arts promotion made their second ever appearance at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden for the event, with St-Pierre choking out the champion for the title in the night’s headliner.
With St-Pierre now set as the new middleweight champion, one of four fighters to ever earn a UFC title in multiple divisions, fight fans are waiting to see what will be next for the French Canadian phenom.
St-Pierre has previously stated that he is contractually obligated to unify his title in a match up against reigning interim champion Robert Whittaker. However, the fight has yet to be locked down for an event. That in mind, Whittaker has been quite politely calling out the champion in the meantime.
Check out Whittaker’s latest call out in the Instagram post below:
“@georgesstpierre @danawhite @ufc professional as always true champion, looks like you have recovered! Let’s do the official unification in Montreal, it will be an honour!!”
