Bellator President Scott Coker Says He’s Down To Put Rory In The Heavyweight Tournament

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Rory MacDonald made a splash when he successfully moved over to Bellator MMA earlier this year. Now the fighter is set to face off against Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima at Bellator 192. That being said, it would appear that a welterweight title fight is not all the “Red King” has in mind.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, MacDonald revealed that he has spoken to Bellator president Scott Coker and he may be a viable alternate for the upcoming heavyweight tournament grand prix.

Bellator MMA is getting ready to pin a series of fighters against each other in a tournament to decide the next heavyweight champion. The grand prix will feature Fedor Emelianenko, Frank Mir, Matt Mitrione, Roy Nelson, Ryan Bader, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Muhammad Lawal and Chael Sonnen.

MacDonald revealed that they are waiting to see how his upcoming title fight goes before anything is decided by the promotion’s president. “Red King” and Douglas Lima will face off at Bellator 192 on Jan. 20, 2018 in Inglewood, Calif.
