Norfolk, Virginia is hosting tonight’s exciting UFC Fight Night 120, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to feature a lightweight battle between Anthony Pettis and Dustin Poirier in the night’s main event.
Continuing the night of exciting preliminary match ups on FS1, The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale winner Tatiana Suarez and Viviane Pereira went toe-to-toe for strawweight division dominance.
Suarez landed a leg kick early in the opening round, later locking in a Muay Thai clinch over her opponent. After a series of powerful knees to the body of her opponent, Suarez tried to sink in a choke over Pereira. However, the fighter was unable to finish her opponent.
Rather, Suarez managed to take Pereira to the ground and then landed some damaging ground and pound. Suarez made her way to the back of her opponent, with Pereira initiating some hand fighting to prevent Suarez from getting more control on the mat.
It was a dominant round for the TUF winner.
Suarez opened the second round with a takedown attempt on Pereira. Getting her to the ground, Suarez dished out some strikes from side control. The fighter eventually made her way to full mount and began raining down elbows and punches on Pereira.
With a minute and a half left in the round, Pereira made her way to her feet but was quickly slammed back to the mat by Suarez.
The final round opened with Pereira seeming gassed from the previous 10 minutes. Suarez quickly earned another takedown over her opponent. With three minutes left in the third round, Suarez continued to pummel her opponent with ground and pound.
Making her way to the full mount, Suarez continued her dominant performance over Pereira. The fight ended with a failed armbar attempt by the TUF winnner.
