UFC Norfolk Card Opens Up With Dominant First Round Stoppage

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Norfolk, Virginia today for UFC Fight Night 120. The night of fights is set to see former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis take on Dustin Poirier for division dominance. Kicking off the night, light heavyweights Darren Stewart and Karl Roberson started things off on UFC Fight Pass with a war.

The round opened at a slower pace, as the two fighters were taking their time and measuring each other’s reach. Stewart began applying a little pressure to his opponent, putting Roberson on his back foot. Roberson responded with a low kick that seemed to affect his opponent.

Stewart managed to get Roberson in a clinch, walking the fighter to the fence. The fighter worked hard to get a takedown, but Roberson ended up taking his opponent’s back on the ground.

After a momentary struggle, Roberson managed to sink in a submission finish over his opponent.

UFC Results: Karl Roberson def. Darren Stewart via submission (rear-naked choke) in the first round.
