UFC’s Colby Covington and former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones have been going at it over social media as of late. Covington caused some controversy when the fighter called Brazil a “dump” and it citizens “filthy animals” at UFC Sao Paulo. Before that, Jon Jones failed yet another drug test.
Coming off of a year long suspension due to a previous failed drug test, Jon Jones made his big octagon return this year at UFC 214. Headlining the event, the fighter faced off against heated rival and reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. While Jones earned a knockout victory, the win would be short lived.
After failing his A and B sample drug test for UFC 214, Jones was once again stripped of his title and the knockout victory was turned to a no contest.
Now Covington and Jones are going at it over Twitter. Most recently, Covington took to social media to state:
“Using my name to stay relevant @jonnybones ? Don’t you have another drug test to fail or an octagon to hide under you loser? Thank god the light heavyweight division has a real champ like @dc_mma to look up to cause you absolutely suck. #chaosdownunder #ufcsydney”
