While fight fans have been wondering who UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is going to fight when he returns to the octagon, it looks like his top rival is headed back to the octagon.
UFC star Nate Diaz hasn’t been in the cage since his five round decision loss to Conor McGregor, in August of 2016 at UFC 202, and it’s been heavily rumored that he was only interested in getting a rubber match with him. However, with yesterday’s social media announcement of his return to training camp that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
In an interesting turn of events it’s now being reported that the promotion is looking to have Diaz return against, UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. Woodley is coming off a win over Demian Maia at UFC 214 and has been angling for a “money fight” with any of the bigger names in the UFC. Diaz is one of the biggest stars in the sport and would certainly bring more eyeballs than any other challenger Woodley has previously faced.
The UFC champion has already stated he’s ready to fight Nate Diaz, but it now it looks like he’s also kicked his training into high gear.
Take a look at Woodley’s recent picture on social media.
