Colby Covington has made some enemies within the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as of late. The fighter earned a decision victory over Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 119 from Sao Paulo. In his post-fight interview, the fighter called Brazil a “dump” and the Brazilian crowd “filthy animals.” Ever since, fighters and fight fans have been voicing their opinions on the controversial moment. Now it would appear that the UFC welterweight champion can be counted among them.
After making his statement in Sao Paulo, Covington later had a physical altercation with former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. Werdum struck the fighter with a boomerang, when the two men crossed paths in the streets of Sydney, Australia. Covington would go on to press charges against Werdum for assault.
Speaking on The MMA Hour, UFC welterweight champion and fellow American Top Team member Tyron Woodley offered his thoughts on Covington’s decision to press charges on Werdum.
During the interview, Woodley explained that he believes Covington should be removed from the UFC for his decision to contact the police following his altercation with Werdum.
