For UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, a chance to face off with welterweight legend Georges St. Pierre is one he just can’t pass up. Woodley has been campaigning for a fight with St. Pierre for quite sometime now but up until this past weekend it didn’t seem like GSP was interested in a return to 170lbs.
Taking to his desk duties at FOX, the UFC champ said on Wednesday night’s broadcast that he’s moving up in weight to face-off with the legend.
Of course, GSP just captured the middleweight title with his dominant stoppage over Michael Bisping, in last weekend’s UFC 217 main event. St. Pierre is expected to face interim-middleweight champion Robert Whittaker next, but there seems to be a good bit of uncertainty as to what’s next for him.
Here’s Woodley’s statement:
Who should GSP fight next? Tyron says he'll go up to 185. Should he? DC and Kenny weigh in! https://t.co/Hy00Xb5t0U
