Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a legend of the boxing world. The fighter returned to retirement after defeating UFC superstar Conor McGregor on Aug. 26, 2017. Slipping back into retirement, Mayweather ended his boxing career with a perfect undefeated record of 50-0. With that in mind, it would appear that the pugilist legend may sincerely be considering a move to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor made his professional boxing debut against the undefeated pugilist, suffering a TKO loss in the tenth round to Mayweather. Still, Mayweather and McGregor put on a pay-per-view record breaking performance that earned each fighter huge paydays. While Mayweather took home an alleged $300 million for his victorious performance, UFC President Dana White potentially believes that the former boxer will soon be coming out of retirement to face off in the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion.
Longtime UFC commentating veteran Joe Rogan recently revealed the news on his podcast Joe Rogan Experience. During the podcast, Rogan explained that UFC President Dana White told him that Floyd Mayweather is in talks with him about making a deal with the MMA promotion.
“Dana told me that Floyd wants to make a deal in the UFC, like legitimately.” Rogan stated.
