Former UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza is in phenomenal shape ahead of her return to action at this weekend’s UFC 219 event. And she’s going to need all she can be as she readies for the division’s top up-and-comer in Cynthia Calvillo.
Calvillo represents a new breed of UFC female combatant who is as equally ruthless as she is talented.
The Team Alpha Male trained Calvillo is unbeaten and has looked dominant in every single outing this far.
The UFC 219 bout between these two could lead to a title shot against new champion Rose Namajunas.
UFC 219 goes down Saturday from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. The night’s main card will air live on pay-per-view.
Now, unfortunately for Esparza, it doesn’t matter how good she looks heading into fight night, although it doesn’t hurt anything either.
