Fight fans flocked to the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York on Saturday night, Nov. 4, for one of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most intense fight cards of the year. For the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion’s second ever appearance inside the New York arena, the UFC hosted UFC 217. The epic night of fights included three different title fights, with each octagon war ending in the title challenger’s favor. Now newly released corner camera footage from the the exciting main event match up between Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping has made its way onto the internet.
Leading up to the night’s main event, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre had been away from the MMA world for nearly four years. After taking a lengthy hiatus from the sport back in 2013, “Rush” decided to make his big return at a new weigh class. For his debut in the middleweight division, St-Pierre challenged the reigning champion Michael Bisping to a title fight.
“The Count” and St-Pierre went toe-to-toe in the headliner for UFC 217, putting on a bloody war for the New York crowd. In the end, St-Pierre managed to put the champion away with a solid rear-naked choke that left “The Count” unconscious on the canvas.
