Floyd Mayweather Jr. achieved legendary status within the world of professional boxing by putting on one of the most dominant careers to ever grace the sport. The undefeated pugilist earned a perfect record of 49-0 before slipping into retirement. However, Mayweather would then return from his hiatus to take on one final opponent in 2017.
Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Coming out of retirement, Mayweather went toe-to-toe with UFC superstar Conor McGregor inside the squared circle on Aug. 26, 2017. The two fighters put on one of the year’s most highly anticipated combat sporting events, as the pay-per-view would go on to make both competitors massive paydays. After earning a TKO in the tenth round over “Notorious,” Mayweather decided to slip back into retirement with a record of 50-0.
With that in mind, during the promotions leading up to the match up, Mayweather somewhat sardonically revealed that he would consider entering the octagon for a rematch with McGregor. Now, rumors are spreading that the pugilist legend has been training in mixed martial arts in secret for some time now and that Mayweather is legitimately interested in competing within the UFC.
