After receiving his UFC release, former UFC two time title challenger Ian McCall is ready to embark on his new Japanese fight career as part of this year’s Rizin World Grand Prix. That said, his first appearance for the promotion has kicked off with a bang, as Ian McCall punched his opponent in the face at today’s official weigh in.
In his return to action, McCall is set to face off with Mael Kape. His opponent is from Portugal with a six fight winning streak, and only one professional loss to his credit.
Today’s weigh in scuffle is par for the course for Rizin, who saw a backstage scuffle between Gabi Garcia and her 53 year old opponent yesterday. And then saw the same Gabi Garcia come in more than 26 pounds overweight for her return to MMA action.
However, Rizin promises to deliver an action packed event, and McCall and Kape will get to settle their differences in the ring. The Rizin Fighting World Grand Prix 2017 takes place on December 29, at the Saitama Super Arena, in Saitama Japan.
The replay of their pre-fight fight can be seen above.
