Joe Rogan is a color-commentating veteran in the mixed martial arts world. As the cage side voice of the UFC, Rogan has gone on to spectate some of the greatest fights in the sport’s history. That being said, it would appear that the commentator may have had a future inside the octagon had things gone a little differently.
Joe Rogan has gone on to gain an eclectic set of skills. The UFC commentator was once a television show host for the likes of Fear Factor and his own Joe Rogan Questions Everything. Beyond that, the man has earned a respected career as a stand up comedian and as a greatly successful podcaster. In his youth, however, Rogan was dedicated to the martial art of taekwondo.
Rogan would go on to become a full contact state champion in the martial art. The martial artist then transitioned into becoming an armature kickboxer. However, Rogan called an end to his combat sports career after receiving frequent headaches from his training and fearing worse injuries were soon to come.
Speaking on his podcast Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan spoke to former power lifter C.T. Fletcher on the subject. During the podcast, Fletcher asked the individual if he ever considered stepping inside the octagon.
“I almost did it at one point and time, but not at this point no.” Rogan explained.
The UFC color commentator then revealed that he halted his possible career as a kickboxer due to frequent headaches and the lack of money being offered to turn professional.
“If the UFC was around back then, I’m most certain that I would have pursued it.” Rogan said.
