It would appear that UFC middleweight Kelvin Gastelum is not too happy about the recent rumor that interim champion Robert Whittaker will soon be facing former title holder Luke Rockhold.
UFC middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre was supposed to fight Whittaker for a title unification match, but “Rush” has since been stricken with a medical issue. As a result, another UFC title has been momentarily taken off the market for other top contenders.
It has since been reported that St-Pierre is suffering from colitis, leaving the fighter unable to defend his title at the moment, with “Rush” having just choked out Michael Bisping for the title in the first place.
Kelvin Gastelum most recently headlined UFC Fight Night 122. The event served as the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s debut in Shanghai, China. For the match up, Gastelum went toe-to-toe with none other than “The Count.” However, Bisping was unable to match the fighter, as Gastelum earned a stunning knockout win within the first round. As Gastelum just finished the former champion, the fighter likely feels some entitlement to a shot at the belt, interim or otherwise. That being said, rumors are spreading that Robert Whittaker is set to face off against former champion Luke Rockhold at UFC 221. Hearing the news of the possible match up, Gastelum took to Twitter to voice his thoughts.

It’s been a long 18 months of fighting, training and fighting again and again. I guess I should have taken those 18 months off ,instead to get a title fight.
