Mixed martial arts promotion Rizin Fighting Federation has now put another exciting grand prix in the books. The world grand prix finals for Rizin FF 9 went down on Sunday, Dec. 31, inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. With the excellent tournament of MMA match ups having now come to a close, the time has come to take a look at the latest Rizin MMA fight results.
Former UFC flyweight contender Ian McCall was largely expected to take the tournament by storm. However, the former UFC competitor suffered a first round TKO loss to Manel Kape. The fighter suffered a gruesome cut to his face from the ring’s ropes, causing the fight to be stopped by the doctor. With that in mind, another former UFC competitor would go on to win it all.
Former UFC fighter Kyoji Horiguchi earned a stunning knockout victory over Shintaro Ishiwatari at Sunday’s bantamweight finals, earning Horiguchi the title of grand prix champion. Check out a replay of the brutal knockout finish in the video above.
