Mike Goldberg: ‘It took the new UFC owners 15 minutes to destroy 15 years’

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) experienced a radical change in the last year. The company was sold for $4.2 billion to William Morris Endeavor, beginning a new era of the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion. However, for the promotion’s employees, all of the changes within the UFC were not always for the best.

Mike Goldberg is a color commentating veteran of the mixed martial arts world. The man made a reputation as a top level commentator while sitting cage side for the UFC alongside Joe Rogan for many years. However, once the promotion was purchased by William Morris Endeavor, Goldberg was one of many employees to be let go by the UFC.

Speaking onThe MMA Hour earlier this year, Goldberg revealed his thoughts on the matter.

“I was one of a lot of people, a lot of good people from the ZUFFA-era that got caught. So I feel for my co-workers, for my friends as much as I felt for myself. I watched everything around me be shattered. It took 15 years to build this wonderful family, and it felt like it took 15 minutes to destroy it. And it was a really tough time, and it’s still a tough time because there may be more to come. This is not uncommon with an ownership change.”
