Thursday the MMA world learned of two notable UFC female fighters being released in Angela Magana and Pearl Gonzalez. Now, Pearl has released a statement on her recent removal from the UFC roster.
Here’s what the newly signed Invicta fighter had to say:
“She shook herself off and reminded herself, the best is yet to come.” Grateful for @invictafc and @marlyrayllc #InvictaFC #MarlyRay #PearlGonzalez #Pearls #Pearl
Pearl’s UFC career didn’t make it far. She was two in and two out, going winless in her time among the world’s elite martial artists.
The female MMA fighter became even more popular after she was nearly deemed unable to fight in her UFC debut against Cynthia Calvillo. The New York State Athletic Commission claimed she was ineligible to compete due to her breast implants. It was later worked out, but the damage was done and her reputation as the breast implant fighter was forever ingrained in fight fan’s minds.
Still though despite her overnight popularity, Pearl was never able to win inside the UFC’s Octagon which led to her release.
Pearl Gonzalez joins a group of new Invicta female MMA fighters.
