Before he was the hardest punching man on the planet, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC ) heavyweight Francis Ngannou was surprisingly just your average small/skinny man, and this was just a few years ago.
Set to co-headline this weekend’s UFC 218 event against Alistair Overeem, Francis Ngannou burst on the UFC scene back in 2015 with a second round knock out victory over Luis Henrique. No one at the time knew where his potential would lad him in just two-short years, but after going unbeaten in all five of his UFC contests, the world is now taking note.
His hands are full this weekend, as Alistair Overeem is as legit a heavyweight as they come. The former K1 Grand Prix, DREAM and Strikeforce champion has publicly stated that Ngannou is not elite level, and he plans on proving that in Detroit.
Ngannou is African born, and at one time before getting the call to the big show, was homeless too. Which is probably why he didn’t always have his gargantuan heavyweight frame.
