The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion was in Fresno, Calif. over the weekend. Fight fans flooded into the Save Mart Center for UFC Fight Night 123. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) offered a night filled with entertaining match ups on the event’s fight card. However, there is one octagon performance that stood out from the rest. Now it’s time to take a look back at the knockout of the year contender that went down Fresno on Saturday, Dec. 9.
UFC bantamweights Marlon Moraes and Aljamain Sterling went to war inside the octagon for the Fresno crowd over the weekend. While Sterling had never suffered a knockout loss in his career before UFC Fresno, things were about to change.
Moraes earned a brutal knockout over Sterling inside the Save Mart Center with a vicious knee to the head of the fighter as Sterling was about to make a takedown attempt. The fighter was left unconscious on the mat for some time, before being carried out of the octagon on a stretcher and being rushed to the hospital.
