The most anticipated heavyweight title fight in UFC history is only a month away when Francis Ngannou takes on UFC champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 220. The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Boston for another stacked card, and the Miocic vs Ngannou fight is as big as it gets.
Stipe Miocic has been very dominant during his UFC tenure and this includes his current run as heavyweight champion. Miocic has defeated a who’s who of top heavyweights including Fabricio Werdum, Mark Hunt, and Alistair Overeem. His most recent victory came last May against former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, who he knocked out in the first round at UFC 211.
The reigning champ has been sitting on the sidelines while his management team negotiated a new contract for him, but he’ll have his hands full when he makes his return on January 20th against Ngannou.
Francis Ngannou has been nothing short of an absolute terror since entering the promotion in 2015. Since that time Ngannou has fought six times in the octagon and finished all six opponents. His most recent outing was supposed to be the toughest test to date, but it turned out to be his most violent finish. At UFC 218, he knocked out Alistair Overeem in the first round in one of the most devastating knockouts in MMA history.
With their big title fight around the corner, the UFC has released the fight poster for UFC 220: Miocic vs Ngannou, check it out.
