Fight fans are flocking to the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. tonight, Dec. 9, for an entertaining night of fights. The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion is in Fresno to host the UFC Fight Night 123 card. In the night’s main event, UFC featherweights Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega will throw down for the Fresno crowd. That in mind, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is throwing down a series of exciting match ups on the night’s card. With that in mind, it’s time to take a look at the UFC results for the night’s event.
Facing off on the night’s preliminary card on FS1, bantamweights Carls John de Tomas and Alex Perez are going toe-to-toe for division supremacy.
De Tomas opened the first round with a flurry of strikes that sent the Fresno crowd into an uproar. Perez retaliated with a powerful right hook counter. Halfway through the first round, Perez managed to sink in a submission attempt over De Tomas. However, De Tomas managed to resist the choke attempt.
Perez continued to control the fight from the dominant position over his opponent on the canvas. However, De Tomas managed to get back to his feet in the final minute of the round. In the closing moments, Perez once again slammed his opponent into the canvas with a takedown and dished out some tough ground and pound before the bell singled the end of the first round.
Early in round two, Perez made his way to side control over De Tomas after a successful takedown attempt. From the position, Perez managed to pummel his opponent with some brutal ground and pound. Then, suddenly, Perez managed to score a submission victory over his opponent with a D’arce choke.
