Werdum On Miocic vs. Ngannou: “That Big Black Guy Will Knock Him Out”

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum may not have a title shot just yet, but the fighter still has his eye on the prize. In a recent interview, Werdum offered his thoughts on the upcoming heavyweight title fight match up between regining champion Stipe Miocic and rising MMA star Francis Ngannou. To Werdum, there is a serious chance that a new champion may soon be in the mix.

Speaking to Portal do Vale Tudo, Werdum explained that he believes Ngannou’s knockout power will play a vital role in the upcoming title fight.

“Ngannou has a lot of power, but I don’t think he’s very technical. However, I still believe he’ll surprise Miocic and knock him out. They both enjoy trading shots, so if Miocic doesn’t have the right strategy, that big black guy will knock him out. Ngannou is very confident and that can make a difference, if he really connects, you’re going down, as we saw with Overeem.”

That being said, Fabricio Werdum believes he can submit Ngannou if they ever meet inside the octagon.

“I can already see myself submitting him, though, and becoming champion again. That’s my goal, to have a third belt on my wall and I really do believe it’ll happen. I’m sure I’m next. I’ll be waiting for him in April or so.”

Ngannou and Miocic will go toe-to-toe at UFC 220. The pay-per-view event goes down Jan. 20, 2018 inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
